Meta ad account suspended? Your campaigns don’t have to die with it
A suspended or disabled Meta ad account doesn’t just stop your ads — it strands years of tuned targeting, tested copy and proven creative behind a login you may soon lose. Here’s the practical playbook: recover your campaign structure while you still can, appeal in parallel, and relaunch into a fresh ad account — paused, reviewed, deliberate.

Four steps from suspended to relaunched
The order matters — serialization comes first because the read window closes without warning.
1 · Serialize today, while reads still work
Suspension typically kills delivery first and API access later. Connect the suspended account to MetaMigrate as the source and serialize its campaign trees now — every run stores a snapshot, so the structure survives even if Meta later cuts reads entirely.
2 · Appeal — and fix what triggered it
Request review in Business Support Home in parallel. If the flag was a policy issue (creative claims, landing page, billing), correct it before relaunch — a clone of a violating ad earns the same suspension.
3 · Stand up the destination ad account
Reinstated? Great — you lost nothing. Not reinstated? Provision a fresh child ad account under your Business (MetaAccounts automates this on the Agency plan) or use any account your token can manage.
4 · Clone source → destination, review, activate
Run the clone: campaigns, ad sets, ads, copy — images and videos re-uploaded, every account-scoped ID rewritten. The replica lands 100% PAUSED. Review in Ads Manager, then activate deliberately.
⚠️ Honest limits: post IDs (likes, comments, shares) are account-scoped and cannot cross ad accounts — the replica starts with fresh social proof. And cloning recovers your work; it doesn’t resolve the policy problem that caused the suspension. Fix that, or the new account follows the old one.
The read window closes without warning
Day 0 — delivery stops
Ads stop serving and spend halts, but the Marketing API usually still reads the account: campaigns, ad sets, ads, creatives, media. This is the recovery window.
Days later — reads may go
If the suspension escalates to a disabled account or Business-level action, API access can vanish. Anything not serialized by then is gone — rebuild from screenshots.
Serialized — safe either way
Once MetaMigrate has snapshotted the tree, the outcome of the appeal stops being existential: reinstated means you lost nothing; not reinstated means you clone and relaunch.
Suspended-account questions, answered
My Meta ad account was suspended — are my campaigns gone?
Not immediately. Suspension usually stops delivery and spending before it revokes API read access. While your access token can still read the account, the full campaign structure — targeting, budgets, ad copy, creatives — remains retrievable. That window is why acting on day one matters.
How do I copy campaigns from a suspended Meta ad account to a new one?
Connect the suspended account as the source in MetaMigrate, serialize its campaign trees, provision or pick a destination ad account, and run the clone. Every campaign, ad set and ad is rebuilt 1:1 — images and videos re-uploaded, account-scoped IDs rewritten — and lands PAUSED for review.
What if Meta already revoked read access?
If you ran MetaMigrate before the ban escalated, each run saved a snapshot — you can clone from the snapshot even after the source account goes fully dark. If there is no snapshot and reads are gone, the structure is not recoverable via the API; this is exactly why serializing early is step one.
Will cloning campaigns get my new account banned too?
Cloning copies your work product; it does not change why the first account was actioned. If the suspension came from a policy violation (creative claims, landing page, payment issues), fix that first and appeal — relaunching identical violating ads will get the same result. Clone the structure, correct the problem, then activate.
Does the social proof (likes, comments) carry over?
No — post IDs are account-scoped and Meta does not allow them to cross ad accounts. The replica is structurally identical but starts with fresh posts. Within the same account, MetaUploader’s post-ID duplication preserves social proof.
Do the cloned campaigns start spending immediately?
No. Everything is created PAUSED. You review the replica in Ads Manager and activate deliberately — critical on a fresh account that shouldn’t open at full spend.
